On this point the Instagram app for iPhone is identical to the Android one. Neither has a list of people who unfollowed. No unfollow notification arrives on any device.
The phone is not the reason. Instagram does not serve this data at all: the platform has no “unfollow” event to display. There is only the current follower list at the moment you look at it.
Where not to look on an iPhone
- Settings, the account section. Profile management lives there, unfollow history does not.
- “Your activity”. Shows what you did, not what others did.
- iOS notifications. Instagram sends no unfollow push, so there is nothing to enable.
- The data download in settings. Returns today’s follows and followers, with no history of changes.
What App Store apps really cost
Such apps do exist in the App Store, and they all work the same way: they ask you to log into Instagram, then watch the list for you.

One approach works, and it does not depend on the device: compare two follower lists taken at different times. It opens in the iPhone browser, with nothing to install.

- Wait. A week or a month, depending on how active the account is.
- Take the second and compare. Anyone missing from the second has unfollowed.

How often to check
Daily is pointless: an ordinary account changes by nothing in 24 hours. A week catches individual unfollows, a month gives the whole picture.
The shorter the gap, the better you know when someone left. There will still be no exact time, but the period narrows to a week instead of a month.
Another reason not to rush: a follower list breathes. Someone unfollows and comes back a day later, someone goes on holiday and makes the profile private. Checking monthly filters out that noise and shows who unfollowed you for good.
